Gommalacca Teatro is a theatre production company for children and young people, founded in Potenza in 2008 by Mimmo Conte and Carlotta Vitale, funded by the Ministry of Culture and registered in the Theater Operators Register of the Basilicata Region. Its headquarters is located at CeSAM – the Experimental Mediterranean Arts Center in Potenza, shared with creatives working in music, dance, comics, and video games. It hosts La Klass, our Theatre School—a creative and educational environment dedicated to younger generations.
We curate cultural programming for families, youth, and schools through Costellazioni a project combining theatre, workshops, and community-building through performing arts. We blend theatre with welfare, education, and social innovation, co-designing initiatives with municipalities, associations, and organizations with aligned goals.
We promote intergenerational artistic practices—such as DAP (Participatory Artistic Direction), which involves youth in decision-making and creative processes—and we are part of the national Risonanze network. We also produce the festival Snip Snap Snout, with performances, music, and talks for new generations. Since 2022, we have been an Artist Residency in the Territories, under agreement with the Ministry of Culture and Basilicata Region, in coordination with the Municipality of Potenza.
Our theatrical process is at the heart of our practice: it gathers us in a circle, exposes us, connects us. It’s an act of trust, relationship, shared transformation.
